AAM directed from the cello by David Watkin

Here at the AAM, we like to do things a little differently. Most orchestras have a conductor; we, on the other hand, are often directed by a player, usually the harpsichordist.

But over the next few weeks, we’re going to be doing something unusual even for us: David Watkin is going to be directing the orchestra whilst playing the cello.

The performances feature music from throughout the church year by Handel, Corelli, Wassanaer, Zelenka and JS Bach. You can catch them at:

  • Beverley Minster, UK on Friday 27 May (more details)
  • Gerberoy, France on Sunday 29 May (more details)
  • Spitalfields Music Summer Festival, London, UK on Thursday 16 June (more details)
